A Class Liberated by Susie Murphy

Susie Murphy's A Matter of Class series has now reached it's seventh instalment in A Class Liberated. Cormac and Bridget are settled at their estate at Bewley Hall but still trying to raise awareness and money for those in Ireland struggling through the horrific blight. They find their efforts thwarted due to their standing in society, as Bridget is still married to Garrett and therefore "living in sin" with Cormac, no member of high society will mix with them, putting the success of their charity events at risk. Other family members are also struggling, Rory to find his place in the family and the work that the Bewley Estate entails,  Emily to choose between family life and her art, Patrick with revelations about the past and the conflicts of his own character and even the younger sons Jack and Gus have their part to play in the narrative. Susie Murphy is a a fantastic storyteller, the characters are so carefully and believably crafted and the pace of the storytelling in her writing never slows, making this latest novel in the series another fantastic page turner. Although there are a number of conclusions in this story, there is another instalmant to come and I for one, cannot wait. I really admire Susie's dedication in her work to researching the period, crafting her characters and never losing sight of the many plot arcs that carry this story forward through time and through the generations. There are some surprises in store in this book which I won't spoil, but if you are a fan of Irish historical fiction and you haven't yet discoverd this series then I urge you to strart now. Perfect for fans of Lucinda Riley, Nicola Cassidy, Kathleen McGurl or A O'Connor.
