Jess Thorne's latest romantic fantasy tale is set in Ireland and blends ghosts, grief, love and folklore into a powerful and page turning tale of family, revenge, history and magic. Dr Alex O'Neill is a psychologist who debunks ghost stories as part of a popular TV show; Ghost Patrol. However, when she gets the phone call she's been dreading for years she ends up facing a ghost story of her own. The phone call tells her that her beloved twin brother Theo is dead and so Alex must go home to Ireland, to Wildewood the big house, that is now hers.
Alex hasn't been home in twenty years and returning means confronting painful memories. While Alex plans to sell the house and land and forget about it, the groundskeeper Theo's best friend Nick wants to continue Theo's rewilding plans. Soon Alex is hearing voices and having visions that as a sceptic she feels she cannot trust, but her Ghost Patrol colleagues encourage her to try and record what is happening and as her encounters get stranger she draws closer to Nick and to the stories about the wild wood that house is named for.
With this latest novel Jess Thorne once again knocks it out of the park when it comes to character, pace, storytelling and steam. If you are a fan of Sarah Painter, Kennedy Kerr or Evie Woods you will adore Jessica Thorne's wonderful storytelling. Get your copy below.
